- Each team must be formally registered within the Jeopardy! Bar League system.
- Only registered teams and registered players will be eligible to accumulate points, appear on the leaderboard, or receive prizes.
- Failure to properly register may result in ineligibility for prizes.
- Team Structure
- Teams may consist of up to six (6) players.
- Each team must designate a team captain.
- A team must maintain consistent team identification throughout the Competition.
- Player substitutions are permitted; however, eligibility for certain prizes (including the regional virtual audition and National Grand Prize) requires minimum participation thresholds (see Sections 8 and 9).

- Mountain West
The states and the District of Columbia are assigned to regions as follows:

- Participation Limits
- Teams may participate in as many official Jeopardy! Bar League events per week as they choose.
- The best score for a particular week will count toward leaderboard standings and Competition scoring.
- All eligible game scores recorded during the same week will be considered when selecting the team’s best score for that Competition week.
- A “Competition week” shall be defined as Sunday through Saturday during the Competition Period.
- A team that plays in a particular region during a given week shall have its score reflected in that week’s regional leaderboard. For clarity, a team that plays in 2 different regions in one week will receive scores on both regional leaderboards.
- The “home venue” is defined as the location at which a team plays most often during the Competition Period.
- Scoring System
The Competition uses Jeopardy! game points as the scoring system.
Jeopardy! game points will be tracked for each eligible game played by a team.
Each team’s highest eligible game score in each Competition week will be its weekly score. The sum of the team’s best eight (8) weekly scores over the ten-week Competition Period will count toward regional and national leaderboard standings and Competition scoring.
To be eligible for Regional Prizes or the National Grand Prize, a team must record an eligible weekly score in at least eight (8) separate Competition weeks during the ten-week Competition Period. Teams with fewer than eight (8) eligible weekly scores may appear on the leaderboards and remain eligible for Weekly Random Draws, subject to Section 10.
Leaderboard updates will be reflected in near real-time, subject to technical limitations.
- Tie-Breaking
In the event of a tie in leaderboard standings:
- The tie will be broken by comparing the tied teams’ highest eligible individual game scores not included in their leaderboard totals during the ten-week Competition Period.
- If the tie persists, successive unused eligible game scores will be compared in descending order until the tie is resolved.
- If the tie remains unresolved, or either team has no further unused eligible game scores available for comparison, Competition organizers will determine the tie-breaking method.
All determinations are final and binding.
- Regional Prizes
- At the conclusion of the Competition, within each region, the following prizes will be awarded:
- 1st Place Team: $500 cash and a virtual audition with Jeopardy! producers for eligible team members
- 2nd Place Team: $250 cash
- 3rd Place Team: $150 cash
To be eligible to receive the Jeopardy! virtual audition:
- A player must have participated in at least four (4) of the eight (8) Competition weeks whose scores count toward the team’s leaderboard total.
- A maximum of six (6) players may participate.
- If more than six (6) players qualify due to substitutions, the captain will designate six (6) eligible players to receive the virtual audition.
Any player who has ever appeared on Jeopardy! or Pop Culture Jeopardy! is not eligible for an audition with Jeopardy! producers.
- The captains of the winning teams will have five (5) business days to respond to the organizers’ email to confirm their prize. If they do not respond within this deadline, the next best performing team will be awarded the prize.
- Prize funds will be issued to the designated team captain within 10 business days of the team prize confirmation. The team captain is solely responsible for distributing funds to eligible team members.
- Jeopardy! Bar League, TimePlay Corp, Geeks Who Drink LLC and associated organizers are not responsible for internal disputes regarding distribution of prize funds among team members.
- Winners are responsible for any applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
- National Grand Prize
The top overall national team will receive:
- A Jeopardy! trip, location to be determined
- Meet-and-greet with Ken Jennings and show producers
- Participation in a Challenge the Champs event, where other teams will compete against the winning team in a Jeopardy! Bar League format game
- Exclusive in-person casting audition
- Two (2) nights’ hotel accommodations
- Round-trip airfare and reasonable ground transportation
Any player who has ever appeared on Jeopardy! or Pop Culture Jeopardy! is not eligible for an audition with Jeopardy! producers.
The captain of the winning team will have five (5) business days to respond to the organizers’ email to confirm the National Grand Prize. If the captain does not respond within this deadline, the next highest-ranked eligible team on the national leaderboard will be awarded the prize.
Trip Coordination
All travel arrangements will be coordinated through the designated team captain. Competition organizers will work directly with the team captain to arrange travel logistics, subject to availability and production scheduling constraints.
Player Eligibility for National Trip
To be eligible to attend the National Grand Prize trip:
- A player must have participated in at least four (4) of the eight (8) Competition weeks whose scores count toward the team’s leaderboard total to be eligible for the National Grand Prize trip.
- A maximum of six (6) players may attend.
- If fewer than six players meet the eligibility requirement, only eligible players may travel.
- If more than six (6) players qualify due to substitutions, the captain will designate six (6) eligible players to attend the National Grand Prize trip.
Travel Conditions and Liability
- The trip must occur during calendar year 2027.
- Travel dates must align with the Jeopardy! schedule and are subject to mutual agreement.
- All travel is subject to availability and third-party provider policies.
- Participants assume all risks associated with travel, including but not limited to delays, cancellations, personal injury, illness, or loss of property.
- Competition organizers are not responsible for travel disruptions or circumstances beyond their control.
- Winners may be required to sign a travel liability waiver and release prior to booking.
- No cash alternative will be provided unless required by law.
- If, after confirming acceptance of the National Grand Prize, the winning team declines the trip or cannot travel on the agreed dates, the team captain must promptly notify Competition organizers in writing. Organizers may, at their reasonable discretion, permit rescheduling, subject to availability, production schedules, travel-provider policies, and completion of travel during calendar year 2027. Organizers are not obligated to reschedule the trip or incur additional costs arising from the team’s requested changes.
- If rescheduling is not approved or reasonably practicable, the winning team will forfeit the trip without cash payment or substitute compensation, except where required by law. Organizers may award the forfeited prize to the next highest-ranked eligible team on the national leaderboard, subject to sufficient time and availability.
- If only an individual team member declines or cannot travel, that member’s portion of the trip will be forfeited without affecting the remaining eligible team members’ participation. Any replacement participant must meet the eligibility requirements in Section 9 and receive the organizers’ approval before travel.
Weekly Random Draws
-
- Five (5) teams per region will be selected by random draw each Competition week from all eligible ballots/entries earned in that region during that week. Across the four (4) regions, twenty (20) team prizes will be awarded each week, for a total of two hundred (200) team prizes over the ten-week Competition Period. There is a maximum of 1 prize per team per week across all regions.
- Each weekly random draw prize is a $50 gift card to the participating venue at which the selected ballot/entry was earned through eligible play. If a venue-specific gift card is unavailable, the prize will be a $50 Visa gift card provided by Jeopardy! Bar League (JBL) and the participating venue. Winning teams and participants may not choose the form of the prize.
- Each eligible registered team receives one (1) ballot/entry for every completed eligible game played in a region during that Competition week. Multiple completed eligible games create multiple entries for that region’s weekly draw. Leaderboard scoring remains based on the team’s best eligible weekly score, as described in Sections 5 and 6.
- Selected winning teams will be notified by Jeopardy! Bar League via email to the designated team captain at the email address associated with the team captain’s account. The team captain must respond to the notification email within five (5) business days of the date the notification is sent to claim the prize. If no response is received within this period, the prize will be forfeited.
- Upon confirmation, the prize will be sent electronically by email to the designated team captain. Jeopardy! Bar League, TimePlay Corp, Geeks Who Drink LLC, and the participating venue are not responsible for lost, deleted, misdirected, expired, unredeemed, or inaccessible electronic gift cards once delivered to the provided email address, except where required by law.
- Gift cards are not redeemable for cash except where required by law and may be subject to the issuer’s or participating venue’s terms, restrictions, and expiration dates where permitted by law.
- A team’s odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries it earns, the total eligible entries in the applicable region that week, and the one-prize-per-team-per-week limit. Weekly random draws will be administered by Competition officials.
